FALL 2021 UPDATE

For more than 20 years, the Victoria School Foundation for the Arts has been supporting students through scholarships, masterclasses, and contributions to production budgets at Victoria School.  As a result of many generous donors over the years, that work is paid for by income earned on an endowment fund held at the Edmonton Community Foundation.

Teachers at Victoria School play a key role in the scholarship process, informing students, providing advice, and writing support letters.  A committee from our Board considers the applications in the late spring, and this year recommended $66,000 in scholarships and summer school awards for 13 students.

As of this year, more than $1.1 million in scholarships have been awarded over our history!

We continue this work despite the interruptions of  COVID-19 over the last few years. Many planned masterclasses have had to be cancelled, with some shifting to online delivery or other methods.  Scholarship recipients could not be recognized in person.  Our major annual fundraiser, the legal community play, was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

We are therefore grateful to the past, current and future donors to the Foundation.  Contributions are still received with thanks, so that we can increase the number and amounts of scholarships, and adjust the other support we offer to the current needs of Victoria School students.
